Hi, I’m Sarah Kimmel. I’ve worked in IT and cybersecurity since 2001, and I’m a mom who has lived through every “Can I have a phone?” conversation you can imagine. Family Tech is where those two worlds meet.
I take the confusing stuff (parental controls, scams, screen time, AI, Wi-Fi that won’t cooperate) and turn it into simple steps you can actually use tonight. No speeds and feeds. No scare tactics. Just a friend who happens to know a lot about tech.

Family Tech started in October 2009 with a simple idea: parents shouldn’t need an IT degree to feel in charge of the technology in their own home. Since then it has grown into a YouTube channel, a podcast, a blog, and a community of parents figuring this out together. You may have caught me on KSL’s The Noon Show, BYUtv, or NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX stations, and I’ve partnered with brands like Microsoft, Verizon, Lenovo, and Samsung.
The goal hasn’t changed: take your family from tech chaos to tech confidence, one practical step at a time.

Let’s Work Together
Every Tuesday I break down what’s new in family tech: what changed, whether you need to care, and exactly what to do about it. Think of it as your weekly tech check-in, minus the jargon.
